Do You Have A Cyber-Marriage?
![]() |
Okay, I was listening to a little video on 60 Minutes today about a married couple who claim that they do not spend more than one hour per week talking to each other!
These two intelligent adults say that although "it would be nice" to actually get together and talk face to face once in a while, they are just far too busy!
Because they are both highly career oriented (and in my opinion, submerged in their own self importance), this husband and wife actually admit that rather than to get up and walk to the other room to talk to each other, they will send each other emails from their laptops.
How on earth did they ever meet in the first place? Internet dating I suppose. This 'cyber-marriage' is nothing more than roommates with privileges - if they make time to take advantage of them!
Multi-tasking is a wonderful thing isn't it? Check your email, place and order for more vitamins, finish the spreadsheet for your presentation at work tomorrow and drop the husband a note to remind him to pay the power bill. After all, no power, no computer…and oh yeah…'luv u'! And don't forget the little
!
What the hell is happening to us? As superior beings with great intellectual capabilities, can we be stupid enough to believe that a intimate relationship can be sustained through a series of emails?
Marriage is a contact sport people! It requires that two consenting adults meet face to face every now and then to talk, laugh, cry, argue, and even have sex!
If you see your own relationship in this scenario, do you even really know your spouse? Favorite color? Favorite food? Biggest disappointment? Happiest moment? What about how they feel?
Here's a thought…
Send one last email to your spouse in the other room. Make it seductive and inviting. Slip into something more comfortable - even sexy and meet in the board…I mean bedroom. Get to know each other.
The spreadsheets will wait until tomorrow…the satin ones should not!
