Whew…That Was A Close One!

As some of you may or may not have noticed…Our Cheating Ways suffered a wee bit of a set back at the beginning of August.

It was nobody’s fault but my own. I took for granted that my little site would chug along merrily without me while “life” diverted my attentions elsewhere.

As I have always said…never take anything in life for granted.
I should have listened to my own advice!

While I was not paying attention…the server that my site was on was shut down – permanently. Tits up – lights out! I had become complacent about my site. It was there and it was earning me a nice little passive income – then, suddenly, it was gone!

Anxiety and profound sense of loss is the only way that I can describe the feelings that I experienced upon the realization that a year and a half’s worth of blogging was just gone…poof! Not to mention the income that I had grown accustom to!

But, as with everything in life…there are always solutions.

So, at this time, I would like to thank David Olsen, from the Authority Site Center for not only providing a great web hosting service for my site, but for offering to help me resurrect Our Cheating Ways from the ashes! He did an absolutely marvelous job!

Dave did not have much to work with either as I had neglected to back my site up regularly as I knew that I should. But, with what little back up information I did provide him, he was able to put my site back together in one day and I have got to tell you, my first impression upon seeing what I thought was lost forever was…

Oh WOW! It is beautiful!!!

It looked exactly as it had before the lights went out.

Exactly!

The only damage suffered was the loss of quite a few recent articles due to my failure to back my site up. So, hopefully, you will bear with me while I “repost” some of my lost articles in an effort to avoid the dreaded “No posts found” page that will inevitably come up, should you search for a page that is missing.

Lessons learned…or should I say…”relearned”…

Never take anything in life for granted! Things, and people, can disappear in a “New York” minute. As Joni Mitchell sang in Big Yellow Taxi…”Don’t it always seem to go that you don’t know what you got til it’s gone…” So true!

Always back up your blog regularly! Sure, everyone knows that, but…do we always do it? Apparently not!
