George Bush Was Here
Just a little news here in the sunny "Golden Isles".
George Bush paid us a visit on Tuesday.
I'm not going to evaluate his speech on the new immigration laws, that's what we have national media for.

But, since I work at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center that the President visited, I had the chance to witness "up close and personal" the preparation that goes into such a tour.
Crews worked through the entire holiday weekend from sun up until sun down mowing grass, cleaning buildings and constructing platforms and stages for the event.
It's not that the grass had not been cut or the buildings had not been cleaned previously, it just that everything had to be perfect for our guest. Not one spot be on the carpets he would walk on and no blade of grass dare stand tall.
It was really quite amazing to watch so many previously thought, sane people, take such complete and utter leave of their senses to direct this Presidential event and "make it happen".
But, just short of a cooperative nervous breakdown, "make it happen" they did!
The President's arrival was more than apparent with the silent but intimidating presence of surveillance, Secret Service, State Patrol, snipers and of course the media.
A quick tour, the speech, the handshakes, and…in just under two hours, it was all over. Flawless…except for that small piece of duct tape that was left hanging from the planter beside the podium…do you think the President noticed it?

P.S.
To my friends and former FLETC employees now stationed on "The Rock" (The Azores)…look, she is carrying a BLUE clipboard! ![]()
